Brilliantly British, the beautiful throws we stock here in our little shop have been designed and woven right here in the UK by a team of expert weavers using natural fibres and techniques that have been used for generations.
Established in 1971, Tweedmill is a family run business passionate about creating beautiful blankets, picnic rugs, home accessories and more.
Situated in North Wales, next to the historic Flint Castle, their designs are influenced by the colours and serenity of the surrounding area. Their in-house design team, pattern cutters & sewing machinists design, craft and create a range of products that are designed to last. From recycling yarn, to weaving traditional tweed, all Tweedmill products are produced using exceptional craftmanship and skills.
Here at Hygge Home, we choose a select collection of throws from the Tweedmill range and they make them to order for us, in either soft cotton or pure new wool, which we think is pretty special.
Pure new wool is a natural fibre that has air pockets within it. These help to regulate temperature, meaning that it keeps you warm when you’re cool and cool when you’re warm. As well as being an insulator, it’s also hypoallergenic, super soft and a circular fabric source – because as long as there is grass to graze on the sheep will continue to produce new fleece.
The throws we stock are perfect to use as a bedspread or as a cosy blanket on the sofa or outdoors in the summer months (you will know that it is often cooler in the evenings here in the UK!). There’s nothing like a cosy blanket or throw to help you create that hygge feeling.
Tweedmill work with some of the world’s best loved brands, and you may spot their products in magazines and on TV and in films, so we are proud to be one of their approved retailers.
As they say, ‘Quality is Woven into us’.
